We are looking for industry experts to join our network of seasoned business and open source mentors and advisors. Members of our advisor network have the opportunity to connect with and help build the next generation of open source technology companies.
What we look for in an Advisor:
- Recent experience as a founder, CEO, or high-level manager of a successful technology company.
- Strong preference for open source company or technology experience.
- Subject matter expert in their respective field.
- Experience directly related to or competent understanding of open source software.
- Unique insight into enterprise sales and/or business development.
- A large network of potential customers and partners.
- Interest in mentoring and advising startup companies and founders.
What is expected of an Advisor:
- The advisor’s photo and bio will be listed on our website at www.otincubator.com
- Reasonable availability to meet and offer advice, as needed. If a startup reaches out, the advisor is expected to respond within a few business days to either accept or decline the opportunity.
- Willingness to tap personal and professional networks, as appropriate.
- A commitment to offer perspective and wisdom based on prior experience.
What Advisors can expect:
- Details on startup companies being incubated and supported by OpenTeams Incubator.
- Opportunities for direct introductions to startups that 1) advisors may be interested in corresponding with or mentoring, or 2) have expressed interest in connecting with an advisor. Advisors can decline introductions or opportunities they feel are not a good match due to personal availability or expertise.
- There is no compensation from OpenTeams Incubator for being an advisor. However, paid management consulting opportunities may emerge with startups as advisors engage with founders through our advisor network. As advisors develop strong connections with founders, and provide value, they may be offered a board seat at the company or equity. If a founder initiates the board or equity conversation, we encourage the discussion, but we ask that advisors not solicit equity or compensation directly from startups as a condition of engagement.
